What is GENBAND Day?

GENBAND Day, which is June 1st of each year, is a Global Day of Service during which GENBAND's global employee base will participate in volunteer activities benefiting more than 50 non-profit agencies and organizations all around the world. GENBAND team members around the world will be dedicating more than 5,000 volunteer hours during our day our Global Day of Service and several locations will have 100 percent participation from their employees.

How did GENBAND Day come about?

On June 1st, 2010, GENBAND completed a historic acquisition of a major division of Nortel, which increased GENBAND's size four-fold. On that day, GENBAND CEO Charlie Vogt created an annual employee holiday called GENBAND Day. After many discussions and suggestions from employees, the company decided to also mark the GENBAND Day anniversary as a day of service each year. On an opt-in basis, employees and management decided to organize voluntary opportunities to spend the day serving the communities in which GENBAND operates around the world.

What organizations are GENBAND employees assisting?

GENBAND employees around the world are assisting and serving organizations that range from well-known charities like Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, and Boys & Girls Clubs to local organizations such as the Ottawa Food Bank, Newland School in Maidenhead, UK (planting a community garden with a walking path and wheelchair accessibility) and Cross Roads Village (Hong Kong-based organization that assist the needy).

Why did GENBAND employees select these organizations?

At GENBAND we want to foster a year-round spirit of volunteerism, consistently contributing to our local communities. Our employees selected various charities because many of them have been involved with several of these organizations in the past, either as recipients of services or as volunteers. We also looked for charities that were "close to home", so we could give back to the communities that support and sustain us on a daily basis.

GENBAND would like to thank the following organizations whose generous donations and contributions helped make our inaugural Global Day of Service an overwhelming success.
