CHELMSFORD, Mass., June 29, 2004 – Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONSE), a leading provider of voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure solutions, today announced that it has received a formal order of private investigation from the Securities and Exchange Commission. On February 11, 2004, Sonus announced that it had notified the Commission of the Company’s independent investigation following the delay in reporting its fourth quarter and full fiscal year financial results for the year ended December 31, 2003. The matter has been the subject of an informal inquiry by the Commission. Sonus has been fully cooperating with the Commission and will continue to cooperate in this formal investigation.
