Industry leader establishes additional regional support across Europe, Middle East & Africa to drive business

SWINDON, UK - February 22, 2005 - Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading supplier of service provider voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure solutions, today announced its continued global expansion with the appointment of two new sales managers targeting key accounts across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). During the last year, the company has significantly strengthened its organization throughout EMEA to serve the growing VoIP market, including next-generation carriers, as well as, established service providers. Additionally, this increased presence in EMEA will enable Sonus to better support its current customers as they deploy global networks.

Gerd Schuetz has been appointed as sales manager for Central and Eastern Europe. In this role, Schuetz will lead sales across this territory, with a focus on Deutsche Telekom's T-Systems and T-Online. A seasoned sales professional, Schuetz brings more than 10 years of industry experience to Sonus. Prior to joining Sonus, Schuetz was most recently with Vocaltec, where he was responsible for VoIP infrastructure sales to international service providers.

The company has also appointed Laurance Balls as sales manager for Northern Europe. Balls brings significant experience in the telecommunications industry, having spent his career focused on the VoIP market in Europe. Balls joins Sonus from Verso where he was responsible for generating carrier VoIP sales in Europe. Prior to joining Verso, Balls was also part of the European sales organizations at Clarent, Mitel and BT.
