Zain Group Selects GENBAND’s SMART EDGE Solutions for Rapid Introduction of Multimedia Services to Consumers and Enterprises
Pioneering Middle East mobile communications provider deploys advanced IP eXchange solution to enhance its voice and data infrastructure
Frisco, TX, May 22, 2013— GENBAND, a leading developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, today announced that Zain Group, a pioneer in mobile communications across eight markets in the Middle East and North Africa, has selected GENBAND’s SMART EDGE solutions to support the launch of its IP eXchange (IPX) interconnect and wholesale voice operation. GENBAND’s SMART EDGE™ solution, consisting of the QUANTiX™ Q20 Session Border Controller (SBC) and GENView Real-time Session Manager (RSM), will enhance Zain’s ability to offer advanced new multimedia services across its existing voice and data infrastructure.

The SMART EDGE solution is a key element in Zain Group’s rollout of carrier-grade, wholesale voice infrastructure across the Middle East. The industry’s most widely deployed interconnect SBC for wholesale and IPX, the QUANTiX Q20 will be installed in multiple locations, providing Zain a simple-to-configure solution that is cost efficient to own and operate. Running on the geo-redundant QUANTiX Q20s, GENView’s RSM software eases day-to-day administration while routing voice sessions to maximize revenue streams.
