GENBAND to Showcase Innovative WebRTC, Cloud, OTT and SMART OFFICE Technology at Cable-Tec Expo
SPiDR WebRTC Gateway recognized for superior performance as recipient of 2013 Diamond Broadband Technology Review Awards
Atlanta, October 21, 2013 – GENBAND, a leading developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, today announced that it will demonstrate WebRTC, cloud, service provider Over-the-Top (OTT) and SMART OFFICE solutions at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, Oct. 21- 24 in Atlanta, Georgia.
GENBAND’s SPiDR™ WebRTC Gateway was recently cited for its superior performance as a recipient of the 2013 Diamond Broadband Technology Review Awards, which recognizes the top products and solutions available to the cable industry as determined by a distinguished panel of independent Multi-System Operator (MSO) and consulting engineering experts. The SPiDR gateway empowers cable operators to leverage the Internet to extend the reach of their existing voice, video and messaging services.
“As the market-share leader in the cable VoIP market, we are extremely proud to receive this award for our WebRTC technology, which offers numerous benefits to our cable customers,” said Brad Bush, Chief Marketing Officer at GENBAND. “The cable operator-controlled last mile is the premium broadband conduit into millions of homes and businesses. Developing and acquiring market-leading technology to assist MSOs to deliver compelling IP multimedia services is an integral component of GENBAND’s Making Networks Smarter value proposition.”
GENBAND offers MSOs the option of acquiring and managing their own network elements or leveraging these same elements as a packaged service. GENBAND’s NUViA™ cloud solution is a Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) offering that includes HD voice, video, multimedia messaging, mobility, conferencing and Web collaboration services. The pay-as-you grow managed service enables MSOs and other operators to accelerate the commercial delivery of multimedia communications applications, and enhance existing services, with minimal upfront capital expenses.
The company’s recently acquired OTT solution, fring™, also provides a cloud-based business model focused on consumers. fring’s popular mobile technology provides a proven, highly scalable offering for MSOs to enable mobile services that include IM, presence, voice and video, across their Wi-Fi footprints.
Cable operators can deploy GENBAND’s SMART OFFICE solutions to differentiate their business offerings, providing a complete set of business services that range from SIP Trunking to cloud-based unified communications. GENBAND’s broad portfolio offers operators a complete, end-to-end solution from the core, to edgeto the end-user experience. MSOs can also depend on GENBAND’s professional services staff to supplement their own teams.
GENBAND’s MSO-optimized solution portfolio is anchored by substantial research and development investments, as well as the 2010 acquisition of Nortel Networks’ carrier voice assets and the 2011 purchase of Cedar Point Networks.
