Tom Smith will lead the company’s Multiple System Operator (MSO) cable team and Brian Toomey will head up GENBAND’s US Regionals sales team. Both Smith and Toomey will report directly to John Ryan, GENBAND’s Senior Vice President of Americas Sales.

Mr. Smith has more than 20 years of experience in senior sales, sales management and business development in the North American MSO, mobile and carrier service provider markets, focusing on core infrastructure solutions, software and telecommunications services. Prior to joining GENBAND, Smith held various senior leadership roles at innovative telecommunications solutions providers Comverse Network Solutions, Broadwing Communications, Inc. (acquired by Level 3 Communications), and MCI Communications (acquired by Verizon). He most recently served as the head of Global Sales at GENBAND technology partner, CounterPath, a leading developer of SIP-based VoIP and Unified Communications software solutions.
Mr. Toomey has more than 25 years of sales leadership experience in the telecommunications industry, dedicating the majority of his career to the service provider industry – focusing on the domestic and international Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets. Previously, Toomey served as North American Sales Vice President for Westell, a provider of intelligent site and outside plant solutions. He has held a wide variety of senior management positions throughout his career including leadership roles at AT&T, Nortel Networks, Veraz Networks and Corvis Corporation.
Mr. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Mr. Toomey earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
