What’s New:  The launch of IP Centrex builds on the traditional benefits of Centrex by combining proven Centrex features and functionality with the benefits of IP telephony.  The service leverages the Customer’s existing IP-ready LAN & WAN to transport voice traffic between the end user and Bell Aliant’s carrier-grade hosted facilities, enabling the customer to gain the cost efficiencies of a single converged voice and data network.

Enterprise Win (City of Saint John, New Brunswick). Saint John is centrally located on the southern New Brunswick Coast.  It is the largest city in New Brunswick with a population of approximately 69,000. Within the Municipal government, there are approximately 702 Centrex users and 13 locations. The City has made significant investments in IT network infrastructure (Ethernet) and applications (Microsoft). 

Why They Chose Bell Aliant IP Centrex services powered by GENBAND:    The C20-A2 solution enabled Bell Aliant to gracefully migrate their legacy TDM Centrex customers to the benefits of IP by allowing their Centrex customers to mix TDM and IP Centrex endpoints in the same business group. City of Saint John Business Case / Deployment Benefits:   The deployment of Bell Aliant IP Centrex by the City of Saint John achieved their key objectives:a 30% decrease in recurring charges per desktop with a net increase in functionality and productivity. The city was able to leverage investments in their data network and Microsoft UC deployment. The flexibility of the Bell Aliant/GENBAND solution enabled the City of Saint John to maintain selected departments like police and fire on TDM Centrex service in the short term and eventually switch them to highly reliable IP Centrex once adoption was complete with other departments.
