GENBAND's Edge IP Trunking solution enables trunking between IP and PSTN networks at the most logical and efficient aggregation point in the network, the PoP or C.O., using the highly scalable G6 Universal Media Gateway or G2 Compact Media Gateway. When combined with a C3 Signaling Controller, IP PBX, or other third party call controller, Edge IP Trunking allows for trunks of all types -- PBX, PRIs, IMTs, and SIP -- to be locally switched, avoiding unnecessary transport of voice traffic to locations higher in the network core.
- Edge IP Trunking from carrier grade platforms starting as small as 8 DS1s to 672 DS1s per chassis
- Supports PRIs, IMTs, and other services via open standards-based H.248, MGCP, and SIP protocols
- Enables efficient SIP to PRI trunking for transiting calls between Hosted VoIP networks and the PSTN
- Provides SIP Peering with IP PBXs, enabling removal of premises-based PRI gateways and reductions in access infrastructure
- Allows TDM Services over IP, using PseudoWire Emulation (PWE3) to enable PRI and other services to be transported over IP/Ethernet
- Works concurrently in the same chassis with the Class 5/LE migration solution for a complete, cost-effective network transition to IP
