EWSD & DCO Next Gen Evolution
GENBAND’s G6 Universal Media Gateway and G2 Compact Media Gateway provide the NGN evolution path for EWSD and DCO networks. With this solution, the EWSD Host, DCO Host and SmartRemote processors are displaced by a third party softswitch (or IMS core) and the Packet Line Gateway (PLG) function of the G6 / G2 platforms. PLG allows softswitch or IMS call control of:
- EWSD line frames and remotes
- DCO line frames and remotes
- Subtending TR-08 DLCs that may be connected to the line frames and remotes
- Emergency Stand Alone (ESA) services
- Enables softswitch/IMS control of legacy GR-303, TR-08, EWSD and DCO access plant (line frames and remotes) at a fraction of the cost of replacement
- Provides new, revenue-generating services to POTS (and VoIP) -based subscribers
- Fully redundant, carrier class gateways with open standards-based interoperability to leading softswitch/IMS cores
- ESA services to both directly-connected and VoIP lines
