C.O. Modernization for IMS
Network modernization methods often replace multiple circuit-switched, local exchanges with a centralized IP-based softswitch or IMS core for call control, and media gateways for voice switching. This reduces the total number of network processors, but also presents two obstacles: 1) all legacy access must be replaced with IP access equipment; and 2) public safety and business continuity can be compromised if communications are disrupted to remotely located, IP-based call control.
GENBAND’s G6® Universal Gateway and G2™ Compact Gateway provide a Packet Line Gateway (PLG) feature that enables a cost-effective migration path for legacy access equipment like Digital Loop Carriers (DLCs), Access Nodes (ANs) and certain TDM switch line frames and remotes. With the G6 and G2, softswitches or IMS cores are able to control calls over legacy access equipment.
The G6 and G2 gateways are the industry’s only solutions that provide a comprehensive next generation migration path for industry standard GR-303, V5.2, and TR-08 DLC/AN equipment as well as proprietary line frames and remotes, including Siemens EWSD and DCO. The G6 and G2 also provide simultaneous trunking gateway support as well as network survivability via integrated, on-board Emergency Standalone (ESA) services.
